I am loving the routine of Isagenix! It has made two of the meals out of the day very easy. Isagenix is a meal replacement so this has changed how I shop for groceries. Our daughters still eat 3 meals per day plus snacks, but since they are 10 this isn't as much food as when all of us eat a meal!
I was always very careful about what foods I buy and now that Jeff is more aware of his eating habits, my grocery shopping has really changed - for the better! I try to buy organic or local whenever possible and have lots of fruits and veggies in the house. The biggest change has come from not having to purchase as much food as I am only making one big meal per day. I was also buying all the protein powders, frozen fruit, omega 3, 6, & 9 oils and anything else to throw into a smoothie - now all of this is combined in the formulation for the Isalean Shakes. One container of Isalean has everything in it we need!
At the end of our 30 days, we are planning to stay on Isagenix as a maintenance program. Again this will mean one meal of the day will be a shake. For Jeff this will be the morning - for me it will be lunch as I am going to have my breakfast - the most favourite meal of the day!

Day 10 - Shakes, shakes, shakes!
The term "cleansing" has taken on a whole new meaning as we progress through the second week. Isagenix is such a gentle cleanse, with room for flexibility and we are seeing remarkable results already. Not just how we look physically, but how we feel inside.
There has been a noticeable improvement in my digestion since starting this 30 day cleanse. The bloating and upset stomach I would feel when I would eat just about anything is gone. The sluggish digestion eliminated! I am feeling soooo much better. My skin has improved as well as my hair and the dark circles under my eyes have all but diminished. I am a whole new me! Jeff is feeling the same - his digestion has improved and his eyes are not these puffy slits anymore! He has slowed down his coffee intake considerably and moved onto hot lemon water or just water.
As for the exercise, I am just making my minimum of 20 minutes per day. Jeff on the other hand is surpassing this and feeling good. There are a few aches and pains, but nothing like he used to have and his energy levels have increased. I am hoping to catch up to him!

Day 9 - Shakes!
I love my shakes! It is so fast to whip up with the blender and be on my way - very versatile, easy to take anywhere. Jeff has a system where he whips up a shake in the morning and then takes the ingredients he needs for a second shake during the day plus his snacks. This is keeping him from indulging in the donuts around the office. If he is required to have a lunch meeting - he is very mindful of what he is eating and then he has a shake for supper. Tonight he ran his first 10km!
The girls and I walked all over Victoria today and I felt great. I had lunch downtown with the girls and my second shake for supper. Although, I ordered carefully - when all of our food arrived, I wanted to dive into everything! For whatever reason - it felt like I wasn't going to see food again! I normally do not eat hamburgers and Kendalle's burger looked amazing - Madison's halibut and fries to die for and my salad with prawns was absolutley delicious. I can't explain it, but I wanted it all!!! So I compromised......this way I did not break the rules. I ate my salad and prawns and had one bite of halibut. All I needed was a taste and I knew I didn't want to eat all of it. As soon as the beer battered halibut hit my mouth and I could taste the heaviness of the deep fried - that was all it took! No need to indulge any further. I knew the halibut cooked this way was not the right thing to eat and allowing myself a bite was enough to recoginize this. I came home from our day in Victoria, whipped up a shake and was back on track.
Allowing myself this "temptation in moderation" was just enough to keep me focussed. In the end, I knew what to do and followed through with the plan - the Isagenix 30 day cleanse! I believe allowing ourselves some freedom and recoginizing what we are doing will give us strength to complete our goals.
So - TTYT on Day 10!

Day 8 - Back to shakes
The day after "cleanse" day and I was so happy to make a shake this morning. I went for strictly chocolate and it tasted so good! Both of us were happy for shakes again. I have to say though - both of us are feeling good - we have energy, not fatigued, and more satisified. For me, I am not missing the big meals of before - breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also find that I can not eat as much for my meal. I am just not hungry. I do have cravings and my love of breakfast is the one thing I miss. So as I have said before, I will just have to juggle my shakes around so I can still enjoy it!
Jeff on the other hand would love to have more than he is supposed. His love of food goes beyond the one meal a day. The goal he has set for himself - to run in the Times Colonist 10km Run in Victoria - keeps him motivated plus he is looking way healthier than he did. Tonight he did indulge in a second burger, but is running right now as I type this. Jeff's health was reaching a point where it was time to make a change. He started making the change and was losing weight - now with Isagenix he has lost a few more lbs towards his goal weight, but is also giving his body the cleanse it needs. Not only does he look different - "no more wishes on the budha belly" - but he feels different. He is now owning his health.
So, good night and we will talk to you tomorrow!

Day 7 - "Cleanse" Day
I am a day late posting this, but I wanted to make sure I had a good feel for how yesterday went! Sometimes it takes time to process.....especially when your day required you to have no solid food!
We started our day with the "Cleanse for Life" drink - no shakes, no food - actually it wasn't half bad. The flavour was great and I was OK with not having food....to start. Jeff on the other hand was starving and really wanted his shake - I stopped him as he was pulling the blender out of cupboard and pointed to the chart. It was clear that this was not what he wanted to know! Reluctantly he put the blender away and mixed up a glass of "Cleanse for Life", drank it and headed to work. Armed with a water bottle and a few IsaSnacks and our "Cleanse for Life" drink - we carried on with our day.
Now we are not going to lie to you - we were HUNGRY! By 3:00 - 4:00pm, the moods were changing - it didn't seem to matter that we were following the guidelines - our daughter's meals were looking way better! Our sponsor had told us, one trick to getting through this day was to stay busy. Jeff was at work so this easy for him. With the girls on Spring Break and requiring meals - my day was a little harder. I did it though - the competitive streak in me was not going to have Jeff succeed at Cleanse day while I failed by "cheating". So stubborn me stuck to the guidelines.
As the girls were having their bedtime snack - both of us looked longingly at their toast and jam just wanting one little bite. I checked our chart and saw that we could have 6 almonds - so 6 almonds it was. I ate mine very carefully, savouring each one where as Jeff tossed them all in his mouth and munched them down. I have to say though, the 6 almonds did the trick. It was just enough to take the edge off as we watched the girls finish their snack!
With our first of 4 cleanse days behind us - we now know what to expect. It really wasn't as difficult as we thought it would be. We will check in again on our second cleanse day and see how it goes!

Day 6 - "Shake" Day
Here we are......the day before our first of 4 "Cleanse" days. Rather exciting!! As we gear up for our first day without shakes or a meal - just the Isagenix "Cleanse for Life" and the recommended snacks (IsaDelight, 6-8 almonds, celery, apple) plus lots of water - we are both excited to see how we will feel.
I am feeling very thirsty as I am having a hard time keeping my water intake up. I am drinking all day, but it still doesn't seem to be enough. This is something I still need to work on. Jeff on the other hand is doing well at keeping his water intake high.
As for only taking in mostly water tomorrow - we are ready! Canteens readily available and armed with our snacks - it will be a rewarding day!
I do have to admit though - I was really craving breakfast - so my one meal today was breakfast! Hot rice cereal with pomegranates & raspberries and almond milk with a small piece of peanut butter toast......mmmm it was sooooo good! I am a big fan of breakfast! Due to the flexilbility of this program, I was able to have it and do my shakes for the rest of the day. Now to go find that skipping rope...........TTYT!

Day 5 - "Shake" Day
As we move closer to "Cleanse" day our routine becomes easier. Our bodies have adjusted to the shakes and we are learning how to be flexible with our shakes. If we know we are going to be having a meal at lunch time, we will switch our shake to dinner time - all the while not interrupting the flow of our life. The Isagenix program is designed to help you, not tie you down to strict rules and planning!
The next step for both of us is to get our minimum of 20 minutes of exercise in daily. Isagenix is not a miracle cure - exercise still needs to be incorporated into your life! Not only do you get your body moving, but you also sweat - more release of toxins. That's right - need to sweat!! There are days - let's be honest now - where exercising to sweat is just not convienent. You may be having a particularly good "hair" day with an appointment later in the afternoon plus taking the kids to their extra-curricular activities. When do you fit in that 20 minutes!?
Jeff and I have found a way and it is the hardest 20 minutes of exercise you will do. Jeff promptly went to the store and bought us a skipping rope. The cheapest, easiest and most convienent form of exercise you can ask for. Easy to store, can be done anywhere and gives you no excuse to fit those 20 minutes in! Jeff thought 20 minutes of jumping rope would be a breeze (I knew better from the boot camps I have done!) - suddenly these 20 minutes became the longest 20 minutes of his life! Our daughters could jump for longer all the while chatting away at us. We were struggling to keep breathing let alone carry on a conversation with these two 10 year old jumping beans!! Kids make things look so easy! So, as we fit in the exercise too - we are hoping our bodies will adjust to 20 minutes of skipping just like our bodies adjusted to the new diet!

Day 4 - "Shake" Day
OK - we are into the routine - Isagenix has made it very easy to adapt to a routine! Now the challenge - it is Friday and we both have seperate plans which involve friends, food and alcohol - the test! We are heading into the unknown of what choices we will have and how will we handle it!!
Jeff took our daughters out for dinner to a restaurant and did well. He kept his food choices healthy and to a minimum. Even as the girls tackled their "sky-high" raspberry cheesecake - he didn't fall into the dessert cavern of sugar and sweets! He saw the goal and stuck with it.
I had a GNO - Girls Night Out - and was worried about food choices. It actually ended up being really simple as in the end we all collaborated on different dishes. I didn't have to worry about what was in these dishes as I was involved in making them. Tried to follow mindful eating and was able to enjoy my night.
We both compared notes at the end of the night and we were quite proud of ourselves! Down another pound each and working our way towards "Cleanse" Day on Day 7!

Day 3 - "Shake" Day!
I have delayed in posting the updated blog, but not in following the cleanse!
Jeff and I are not feeling as hungry and finding that the snack suggestions are doing the trick! It is hard to believe that such a small snack will keep you going to the next shake or meal. Our snacks have been an IsaDelight chocolate or an IsaSnack wafer. I have to admit that I did have a few raw carrots as well, but otherwise have stayed on track.
I was concerned about the whey protein in the shakes as some dairy I can not tolerate. I am doing well on the whey - it is the highest grade of New Zealand whey and casein protein from grass fed cows with no added hormones and antibiotices. As well, the shakes are loaded with minerals, alfalfa juice and active enzymes. We all know that anything new added to our diet, our body will always have an adjustment period. Both Jeff and I have adjusted to taking the Isalean Shakes without digestion issues.
The IsaFlush contains magnesium. This is used to relax the system so the elimination process can be made easier, along with drinking lots of water. Jeff is doing well with his water intake, I need to step mine up!
So, as Day 3 comes to an end - we are optimistic! Both have us have lost a couple (2-3) of pounds, but are feeling leaner!
See you on Day 4!

Day 2 - "Shake" Day
Here we are on Day 2 of a 30 Day Cleanse - I am not going to lie to you - both Jeff and I are feeling the effects of substituting two main meals with shakes and having one meal - we are HUNGRY! Not only that, this is only Day 2!!
So, let's take a look at this - we have reduced our calorie intake as now two of our meals are the same calories each day. It isn't that we are not getting enough nutrition for our body, our body just needs to adjust to the new calorie intake. Our lunches before the cleanse may or may not have been equivalent to a shake, but all the mindless snacking in between is gone! Our snacks consist of a few almonds (like between 6-10), some celery sticks, an Isagenix Snack wafer OR IsaDelight chocolate plus all the water you can drink.
We know our bodies are going to have an adjustment period, it is just so weird to feel hungry. For me, my hunger is not the type of feeling where I want to dive into a bag of chips or gorge on whatever I can find. It is more like an awareness that changes are occuring. Jeff may not have the same opinion, but he was very strong today and resisted the tempations at work - Tim Horton's donuts (prior to the lifestyle change he would have had 3) and sandwiches. Isagenix is so convienent that he took his shake to work, blended it and that was his lunch - willpower indeed!!

Day 1 - "Shake" Day!
After talking with our sponsor and receiving some helpful tips - we couldn't wait for morning to make our first shake!
This morning Jeff made a Vanilla shake - tasted creamy, like vanilla pudding. I did half vanilla and have chocolate! Just as creamy and very tasty. All we had to do was add 8oz of water and a few ice cubes - voila done! So, not only did our shakes taste great, they were very filling as well. Plus these shakes are full of active enzymes to help with the digestion process. Jeff and I will be replacing two meals with shakes, drinking a minimum of eight 8oz glasses of water to flush our systems, and having one meal of the day whether it be lunch or dinner.
I read all the ingredients on the shakes and supplements that arrived with the cleanse and was very happy when I recognized everything listed. There was not one ingredient I didn't recoginize and no artificial sweeteners or flavourings. Most of the ingredients anyone would recoginize - the other ingredients if you have knowledge of vitamins and herbs, are easily identifialbe.
Throughout the day if we did feel hungry, we were ready with our "Isagenix Snacks" - chocolate (yes, more chocolate!) wafers you suck on to curb the hungry feeling. And these wafers are delicious! I also had one of my IsaDelights - was very impressed with this product as I am fan of dark chocolate. A thin, square piece of dark chocolate infused with green tea - it was simply delightful - hence the name! Quickly became a favourite!
Dinner then consisted of black bean quesdillas filled with veggies and a mango salsa on the side. A normal meal for this family - very simple. Majority of the time we will replace breakfast and lunch with a shake and have dinner with our daughters.
Speaking of our girls, Isagenix is also for children! Hot tip told to me today - combine the vanilla shake with an orange "Want More Energy" and the girls will think they are having an Orange Julius. Love it!! I am also going to try some of the recipe ideas that came with our kit - such as Vanilla chai shake - hmmmm yummy!
As we begin, the objective is to cleanse the toxins, but both of us would also like to a lose a few pounds. Isagenix will only do what our body needs - weight can be lost if needed along with cleansing. The protein in the shakes is designed to assist with creating lean muscle and we all know muscle weighs more than fat! Plus while you are doing the cleanse, a minimum of 20 minutes of exercise must be done daily.
As Day 1 comes to a close - Jeff and I are optimistic and looking forward to the changes ahead! Check out our website at http://www.cleanliving2day.isagenix.com/

Isagenix arrived!
Here I was blaming Canada Post and the product arrives by Purolator right to your doorstep! How great is that?!
I have unpacked the box which contains everything for 1 person to do the 30 day cleanse. Jeff and I are both going to do the 30 day cleanse so we will require an additional kit. BUT one thing I did find in my box - chocolate!! Yes, chocolate - chocolate shakes and green tea infused dark chocolate for improving mood, metabolism and energy. The IsaDelight Plus chocolates were recommended to us and were an additional product to the 30 day cleanse. We both have a sweet tooth every now again - OK, maybe Jeff more than me - he loves his M&M's!
The product catalogue for Isagenix is amazing! There is everything from cleansing systems, to nutritional support and skin care line along with products for children. I am blown away by the amount of product available to live a healthier lifestyle. There is even a line created by Dr. John Gray (author of "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus") - it is slightly different than the 30 day cleanse, but designed specifically to support healthy brain chemistry in men and women and recognizing the different needs each require.
So, step one - I will be contacting my sponsor to guide me through my kit. There is an amazing amount of material that arrives with your kit - from books to DVD's and a chart to track your progress. Isadiary.com is another valuable resource for assisting with planning.
I am excited to begin purging toxins and start feeling energetic! Along with still being able to eat - this is not very restricting at all!
Keep you posted.........here we go!

Waiting.....
So, Canada Post does not recoginize how anxious we are to begin this cleanse! Our product is due to arrive tomorrow so in the meantime we enjoy one more day of being frivolous with our diet. In actuality, we are being conscious of what we put in our mouth, savouring the tastes that we may not see for 30 days. Of course there will be certain foods we can have and then some that we should avoid in order for this to be successful! I am excited to see how I feel after the first few days as is Jeff. Our jump start into Spring! Stay tuned.....the fun is about to begin!

Getting started.....
......my husband and I will be receiving our Isagenix 30 day Cleanse early next week. We are totally amazed by the great product line offered to assist with the transition of cleansing. So, as Day 1 of cleansing approaches, we are looking at food from a whole new perspective - eat now before we can't! We have been reassured that the Isagenix products are great tasting (which I can claim is true as I have had them before) and our bodies will thank us! It is the mind set of hearing the word "cleanse" and immediately visions of being trapped in our washrooms and not being able to have the foods we think we need or want such as chocolate!
Isagenix is a very gentle cleanse and at the same time we will be replenshing our body with nutrients. What does this mean? More energy and healthier lifestyle - follow us as we embark on this journey!
